Thirds’ Theatre Workshop on A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Girls in Thirds had a wonderful day of workshops and performance led by Emma, Alan, Darrel, Rhiannon and Miles from the Box Clever theatre group, building on their study of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in English this year.
The cohort was divided into five groups, each working with one of the Box Clever actors on one of the five Acts of the play. It was heartening to see the girls working so collaboratively and engaging with the play. The Box Clever actors were impressed by the sheer volume of ideas and creativity that the girls brought to their Shakespearean performances, as well as their talents in music and dance!
If the final performance of the play in the afternoon proved anything, and as Emma from Box Clever reminded us all, it is that Shakespeare wrote plays to be enjoyed: “the play’s the thing” indeed.
Thank you to our girls for immersing themselves so brilliantly in the rehearsals and performances and thank you to the inspiring and energetic Box Clever actors for a fantastic day. Last but not least, thank you to the Friends of LEH (FLEHS) for their part in funding this event.
