The Gateway Development
The Gateway Development marks an exciting new phase in LEH’s development and one that will benefit everyone in the LEH community.
The improvements include an impressive and functional pupil entrance on the west side of the school, linking the sports hall and swimming pool to the main school building. Sports facilities will be upgraded, and we are adding much needed new facilities for the provision of STEM learning and teaching.
- High tech computing suite
- State-of–the–art Product Design suite
- Enlarged sports changing rooms
- Activity studio
- Ergometer (rowing machine) room
- Swimming pool and viewing gallery
Construction began in July 2016 and has been carefully scheduled to minimise the impact on the day-to-day running of the school. Plans of the building modifications are on display in the main school Reception.
How you can help
LEH is keen to provide the very best equipment for our students, and that inevitably comes at a cost. We invite generous individuals or companies to consider offering financial support, as Sports or STEM Benefactors, to transform the experiences and enhance the lives of our students. http://bit.ly/GatewayDevelopmentBuyabrick
If you want to find out more about becoming a Benefactor please contact Jennifer Blaiklock, Development Director.

Latest Update - May 2017
The Easter break enabled the contractor to make great strides without affecting the day to day running of the school. This also enabled the contractor to gain access to areas otherwise unavailable during the normal school week to carry out essential works such as the sports hall, where new services were run through at high level and the glazing to the first floor balcony installed.
Externally the fixing of the external envelope cladding is well underway with the framework, membrane, insulation installation all complete, and the majority of windows fitted. The scaffolding has since been removed to enable the final Eternit rain-screen to be installed.
Internally, the first fix of the electrical and mechanical is nearing completion.
Within the classrooms, lockers and changing rooms, the metal stud works, plastering and installation of ceilings is also close to completion. Within the changing rooms, floor finishes are being laid and doors installed.
Phase 2 of the project has seen the foundation works completed and the steel frame is 95% complete with floor decks currently being installed which will enable the concrete floors to be poured within the next two weeks.
The Swimming Pool works are making great progress, The ceiling and walls have all been clad, and first and second fix electrical services are almost complete. Tiling of the pool is ahead of programme, with glazing works scheduled for next month.
