Peterborough Junior Regatta

On 24th June, the J14 and J15 squads travelled up to Peterborough to compete at the Junior Regatta. It was a great day of side-by-side racing on the multi-lane course, with some very close races.

Amelia (UIVY), Paulina (UIVY), Lucia (UIVM), Eliza (UIVL) and Margo (UIVY) won bronze in J14 'A' quads in a thrilling race, with only a few inches between then and Norwich. Margo and Eliza also raced in a J15 octuple, along with fellow J14's Harriet (UIVL), Sophie (UIVM) and Caitlin (UIVX), and J15's Karina (LVP), Sophie (LVS), Clemency (LVQ) and Charlotte (LVQ), where they won another bronze. Charlotte also won 'Best Cox' award for demonstrating exceptional skill in the cox seat. The J15 crew of Ruby (LVR), Ella (LVP), Darcie (LVQ), Helen (LVP), Claudia (LVP), Emma (LVR), Natasha (LVP), Michelle (LVP) and Raman (LVS) won the J15 octuple event, although the J14/J15 composite crew gave them a real run for their money.

Sophie (UIVL), Hannah (UIVY), Felicity (UIVL), Elissa (UIVL), Olivia (UIVL), Isabella (UIVY), Grace (UIVM), Eleanor (UIVY) and Sophie (UIVM) won J14 'B' octuples in convincing fashion. The J15 'B' quad of Georgie (LVS), Kirstin (LVQ), Clemency (LVQ), Florence (LVP) and Maiya (LVR) (who won bronze in J15 'B' quads at National Schools) also won gold. Special mentions go to Hannah (UIVY), Eleanor (UIVY), Elissa (UIVL), Isabella (UIVY), Miriam (UIVL), Olivia (UIVL) and Felicity (UIVL), who all raced in a single against tough opposition. Despite spending most of the last few months in bigger boats, all the girls raced with determination and confidence in the single.
