LEH U14 Lacrosse play for Royalty at Lacrosse World Cup 2017
During the U14 Lacrosse festival played at Surrey Sports Park from the 12th-14th July 2017, the LEH team was fortunate enough to be invited to play an exhibition match for the ambassador of English Lacrosse, Princess Anne. The team was selected based on their excellent sportsmanship, positive attitude and skilled performances earlier in the day.
The girls started playing against Moreton Hall with eager anticipation. The Princess Royal arrived by helicopter and hovered above the pitch, observing LEH having an excellent attacking spell that finished with a goal. The helicopter then landed on a grassy verge at the back of the pitch, while LEH again took control of possession from the draw. The Princess then stood behind the goal and spent the next few minutes observing the LEH team again turn over the ball and win a free position in front of goal. The LEH girls were incredibly composed and most certainly displayed a performance worthy of recognition. The team finished the game with a convincing win.
The Princess then walked past the pitch to meet the Senior England lacrosse players and welcoming party of the World Cup. She then proceeded to officially open the 2017 Senior World Cup at the end of the flag procession and grand opening ceremony, which, after a very quick turnaround, the LEH team were lucky enough to make it in to the stands for.
The girls were delighted to have been involved and felt very privileged to have been selected to play for royalty.
Well done to everyone involved.
