Konstanz Exchange 2018
In July, a group of LEH girls and Hampton boys took part in the return leg of the German exchange to Konstanz. We had an early start at the airport but were soon at the Ellenrieder Gymnasium where we met our exchanges and had a nice catch up. We were all so excited to see them again after such a long time and to spend a week in Germany in the hot July sun.
Throughout the week we did a variety of trips with school, visiting places and seeing lots of sites. This included the Rheinfall waterfall, which was truly stunning and also the interesting and historic cars in the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart. We were also given lots of free time to shop in most of the places we went to visit. My favourite activity was the climbing park in Mainau, very similar to Go Ape. You were in the tree tops tackling obstacles for a couple hours. It was such a fun activity especially if you love a challenge. In the evenings you were with your exchange. Whenever England was playing in the World Cup most people would come to watch it at a public viewing, which was a lot of fun as the atmosphere was always great.
Throughout the trip we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the culture by trying typical German food but mainly, we were able to listen and speak the language to help enrich our understanding and knowledge of German. A huge thank you has to go to all the teachers for making this trip so action packed, enjoyable and memorable. We all think it has helped massively and really recommend it to anyone taking German.
