Mindful doodling, baking, drumming, musical theatre, jigsaws, board games, football….., do you know what works for you as a way to de-stress and relax in this busy world? We all know how important it is to look after our physical and mental health but do we know how?
On Tuesday 9th October all pupils and staff took up the challenge to find out what works for them.
A wide range of activities were on offer and replaced the usual round of lessons. Everyone was tasked with choosing an activity within the strands of mindful, creative, physical, and community and also attended a talk on an aspect of wellbeing. Hour long sessions were timetabled with plenty of free time at break and lunchtime. The girls chose the lunchtime menu and the dogs who came into visit were a definite highlight for many.
The day was a digital free zone, finished at 4pm and the sun shone down on us all day long which allowed many of the activities to take place outside in our beautiful grounds.
We are determined to continue to prioritise the wellbeing of all members of our community and Wellbeing Day is fast becoming an important fixture in our year. Hopefully everyone who took part in the day came away with a better idea of their go to activities when times get tough and have learnt some strategies that will help them all through the year.
Feedback from pupils and staff has been enthusiastic with plenty of ideas on how we can continue to evolve the day and we are already looking forward to next year.
So what is your go to activity…..walking the dogs, knitting, trampolining, gardening, yoga……. All new ideas welcome!
