We have had another very busy and successful week of sport at LEH – our feet haven’t touched the ground! Our pupils across the school have had a brilliant term of sport and we are really pleased with all their efforts and commitment to make it a successful season overall. We wish them a restful break over Easter and we look forward to the Summer term with athletics, cricket and tennis.
Borough Swimming
Last Friday we hosted the Borough Swimming Gala. Congratulations to all of our 3rds to L5 LEH swimmers that competed. They showcased their fantastic swimming technique and team spirit, cheering each other on in the pool. LEH did a fabulous job and finished 1st overall out of 10 schools in the Borough. Well done all swimmers!
Lacrosse
On Saturday, our U12A&b and U13A&B lacrosse teams competed in the Tri-Counties tournament, hosted at LEH. It was a busy morning of excellent lacrosse from all the schools who took part. The U12 teams both played brilliantly with the U12A team finishing 5th overall and the U12B team finishing in a fabulous 3rd place, having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1. Both teams progressed well throughout the competition.
The U13 teams had a competitive morning, playing strong schools in their matches. They won all their matches throughout the morning, demonstrating some excellent skill and patience. Both teams, having had a clean sweep, were crowned Tri-County champions in both the A and B competition! A brilliant outcome for these athletes and all the hard work they have put into the sport. Well done to all the teams and players!
Outside of school, we have had some exciting news regarding lacrosse. The Super Counties took place last weekend where three of our students, Amelia (L5), Ines (L5) and Marie (U5), competed up in Shropshire. Amelia was made captain of the Southeast U15A team and was also awarded MVP for her team for the tournament! Overall, across all U15 and U18 teams, the Southeast won. Selection is also just out for the U18 Southeast teams to play the Home Internationals 2024 in Cardiff in early April. We are pleased to announce that both Amelia and Marie have been selected in the Southeast U18B. What a great experience to play Wales, Scotland and Ireland U18 teams and we look forward to hearing all about their experiences!
Well done and thank you to all the lacrosse athletes for all their hard work and dedication over the two terms, come rain or shine! We look forward to next year!
Trampolining
Catherine (L4) took part in the National Schools Trampolining final on Saturday up in Telford. She has been working tremendously hard for this competition in order to put her best routine forward. After performing two fantastic routines with incredible skill level and beautiful height, Catherine finished 10th in her age and ability category. A huge well done to Catherine on her hard work and dedication. National finals are an amazing achievement and we are so proud of her success.
Netball
Our final week of term has been another busy one for netball. On Monday our U13 A – F teams played Godolphin and Latymer school. It was a great to play our final match of the season at home finishing on a high. All teams played really well against other highly competitive teams. We had some great success, winning 3, drawing 1 and 2 very narrow defeats. Well, done to everyone who played and congratulations to the players of the matches awarded by the opposition - well done to Rosie, Chinmyee, Brishelle, Kitty, Madeline, Amelie, Dotty, Josephine, Amrit and Bella.
The U14A, U15B and U15C teams travelled to Notting Hill & Ealing School on Tuesday for their weekly match. All three teams performed well throughout their games. The U14A and U15B teams both had convincing wins and demonstrated very good attack and defence skills across the court. The U15C team had a tougher match and unfortunately lost but played some good netball during the game. Well done to the players of the match, Isla (U4), Alice (L5) and Aurelia (L5).
Our U12 A team qualified last week to represent Richmond at the London Youth Games in Redbridge on Tuesday. After an early start we began our first round of pool matches playing The Latymer School representing Enfield, Redden School representing Havering and St Paul’s Way representing Tower Hamlets. We had a great round of matches which enabled us to qualify in the top 16 going into the afternoon pools. In the afternoon we had some extremely tough opposition playing Streatham and Clapham representing Lambeth, Latymer Upper School representing Hammersmith and Fulham and Mossbourne representing Hackney. We unfortunately lost against an extremely strong Streatham and Clapham School, the current U12 Surrey champions, and Latymer Upper School, the current U12 Middlesex champions. We ended up 3rd in our group missing out on the quarter finals. The team can be extremely proud of the performances on the court with some excellent play. Well, done to the team.
The U13B netball team travelled to Waldegrave school to compete at the Borough netball tournament on Wednesday afternoon. They were competing against U13A teams from schools in the Borough and performed well throughout the tournament. They won all their groups matches placing them in the semi-final against Grey Court School. This was a tough game and we were down at half time. However, a good team talk took them back onto the court and they won the game by 1 goal! This took them to the final where they played against a competitive Orleans Park School. The team performed brilliantly and won this final convincingly! Well done to the team for achieving U13 Borough Champions!
Congratulations also to Cecilia (L4) who has been selected for the Surrey regional team for this Sunday’s regional netball festival. Good luck to you Ceci!
A fantastic to end such a successful season. Mrs Searle would like to thank all the teachers, coaches and Sixth Former helpers for all the work they have done this season. Also, to our players for their dedication to training and matches we look forward to an equally successful season next year.
