Weekly Sports Highlights - 19th November 2021

This past Saturday 13th, the LEH lacrosse teams travelled to High Wycombe to play Wycombe Abbey school. We had 12 teams out representing LEH and all matches were very competitive. Congratulations to the 2nd team, U15B, U12 White and U12 Black teams who all won their matches. Well done to everyone who played!

We also had the Junior and Senior athletes competing at the North London Regional Cross Country Final. The Juniors put out some good performances against some very strong teams and finished 8th overall. Notable performances from Chloe placing 21st and Iris 31st out of 75 pupils. The Senior students came 4th overall and are the reserve team for the National Finals. It is worth mentioning that this is our best result todate! Notable performances from Eloise coming 3rd and Ella coming 8th. Well done to all.

On Sunday, LEH hosted the netball County round of the National Schools. The top two schools in each age group would go on to represent Middlesex in the regional round to be held in January. We had 14 schools in attendance with over 300 netballers playing in U19's, U16's and U14's age groups.

Our U19s played a round robin against eight other schools for their qualifier. Unfortunately, they did not qualify for the regional final however, they can be proud of what they achieved and worked incredibly hard as whole team.

The U14s finished 3rd in their group missing out on the play off to go through to the regional round but played some very good netball throughout.

The U16s had the best chance of the day finishing 2nd in their group with some impressive wins and making it through to the play-off.  They played North London Collegiate School in this match and, whilst again playing some very competitive netball, they unfortunately lost the game.

A huge well done to the players who competed and we will now focus on the Middlesex Finals in March!

Our U13 and U15 gym teams took part in the ISGA 2 piece challenge cup competition on Sunday, which was also held here at LEH. We had some great performances from both teams. Our U15s were in the advanced competition and scored highly on vault and our U13s won the team event overall with Scarlett and Hediyeh finishing 2nd and 4th individually.  Huge congrats to all.

This has also been a very busy week of netball. On Monday our U15 teams played St Paul’s Girls school. These were closely fought games and we won 1, lost 2. Tuesday, we had 66 U12s pupils representing LEH against Notting Hill and Ealing High School. If was fantastic to see so many students enjoying playing netball whilst achieving some great scores. We won 3, lost 3. Wednesday, our U18 1st and 2nd’s played St Paul’s. These were exciting games, and nothing split the teams. Unfortunately, we lost both games with only 1 goal in the final scores for both teams. Well done to all those who have competed this week.

LEH hosted the U19 South Schools Invitational tournament yesterday all day. It was a beautiful day and the standard of Lacrosse was very high. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be LEH's day and they got knocked out in the semi-finals of the Ball Competition. Well done to those that represented LEH.

We also took 17 athletes to Richmond Borough Cross Country yesterday afternoon. Overall some great performances from all teams involved. Notably Marie who came 2nd in the U14 category and Ella who came 1st and Eloise who came 2nd in the Senior category. It was great to see so many parents come to support the pupils!

This weekend we are at home to Latymer Upper U18AB and U16ABC netballers – best of luck to all. There will also be intra-squad training for 11 lacrosse teams from U12 to U15s.
