On Saturday last 11th June, the PE Department held our first parent and child tennis tournament. We had brilliant weather for the event with fantastic tennis played by all. Due to our initial numbers we decided to hold two separate tournaments, a hard court and a grass court. The grass court tournament was fun and competitive with lots of laughter throughout. Our final result ended with Anushka and her dad being the runners up with Camilla and her dad winning the event.

On the hard courts the teams were split into three groups. The tournament was played with a great spirit and enjoyed by all. We had a great standard of play with plenty of close games and a great standard of play.  The tournament came down to the final round of games with Milana and her dad narrowly coming second to our hard-court winners Hasitha and her dad.

On Monday the Junior athletes travelled to Watford to compete in the London North Regional B Final. Having made a 32 point improvement from the qualifiers, the students placed 8th out of 18 across Middlesex, Hertfordshire and London. Fantastic achievement for many as their first athletic season. We look forward to see what they can do at the Borough Athletics next week.

Meanwhile back at school we had a lovely home tennis fixture against Surbiton U13. There was eight pairs and while Surbiton played well, we came away with a win.

On Wednesday we took 12 students from the 3rds to play at Surbiton High School for a tennis friendly. Despite the heat the students played some exceptional tennis. Each match was timed and scores were taken in after 20mins of play. In total LEH were victorious winning 11 matches to 6 with 1 draw and a total of 77 games to 42 overall. Well done to all those who played.

Today 14 athletes have travelled to Lee Valley for the London North Regional A Final who are looking to qualify for the National Championships. Fingers crossed and we will report back next week!

Tomorrow we have 20 pupils travelling to Epsom College athletics for a morning of athletics for our 3rds and L4. Also good luck to those going to the English Schools National Final at StoneX Stadium tomorrow.
