Weekly Sports Highlights - 15th October 2021

We have had a wonderful last week of the half term for Sport at LEH;

On Saturday last, our LEH lacrosse teams travelled to our neighbours, Claremont Fan Court School, for a friendly fixture. The teams showed perseverance in some foggy conditions. It was not one of the most successful outings for our teams, but it was the debut of the U12 Red, U12 White and U12 Black teams and they should be congratulated on some lovely play, and we look forward to seeing more from this talented year group in the future. Well done to all that played.

Sadly the Tri-County Lacrosse Tournament last Saturday for our U18s and U15s had to be cancelled due to rising cases at North London Collegiate. The new date for this is Jan 30th 2022.

The netballers had fantastic success last week in the Middlesex Schools county tournament.  Both the U16 and U19 teams have qualified for the County Finals, having played some very competitive netball.

Congratulations also to the U14s who won the Richmond Borough tournament last Friday – they didn’t lose any games throughout the whole morning and played some excellent netball.

On Monday, four of our U13s travelled to St Paul’s to play a strong opposition. There were some tough fought matches and lessons were learnt. Well done to those who played.

On a beautifully sunny Thursday afternoon, we hosted the first round of the Middlesex County Tournament for the U15 & U14. This was a qualifying round and the top three teams in each age group go through to the finals in March. We are delighted that both our U15s and U14s came second overall and are now through to the finals.

We also hosted the first round of the U13s SSMNC Cup last night against Surbiton - we gave them a good run but they were the stronger side in the end. Well done to Surbiton and wishing them good luck in the next round.

Sadly the U12 & U13s Swimming gala at Wimbledon High School was also cancelled. We hope to be able to swim against them next term.

This morning we played in the Borough Tournament for our U16s at Waldegrave. We will report on this after half term.

Tomorrow we are very excited to have our inaugural Parent/Daughter badminton tournament, with a high number of families signing up for this event! Given that the IIIs were due to go on PGL and therefore missed out on the opportunity to play, we may well see if we can organise another one in the new year.

Finally, best of luck to the athletes who are competing in Bath this weekend in the British Schools Biathlon Championships – we wish you well!

Wishing everyone a restful and safe half term and see you in November.
