On Monday 10 March 2025, four LEH students, Yuchen J (Lower 4), Clarisse H (Lower 4), Gece B (Upper 4), and Ananya S (Upper 4) took part in the UKMT Team Maths Challenge. The girls tell us how they got on:

"The Challenge was hosted at Vyners School in Uxbridge, where, at first, we warmed ourselves up with the starter questions when we got there. We were then faced with many interesting and engaging maths questions to tackle.

The first round was a whole team challenge where we had to go through complex questions in 45 minutes. Collaborating our shared maths knowledge, we solved all of the questions successfully.

We were then faced with the ‘Shuttle’ round. We were split into pairs, where each pair had to rely on the answer of the other pair. This tested our teamwork skills as well as focusing on speed and accuracy.

The next round was the Crossnumber where we solved a crossword where we continued working in our pairs whilst taking the answers from the other pair to answer the questions for the crossnumber.

The fourth and final round of the competition, the Relay, involved us splitting into pairs again and swapping one pair with another table. In this round, the teacher supervising the table was at the end of the room and the pairs took turns answering one question to 'unlock' the next question for the other pair.

Overall, we came fourth in the competition. We found this challenge highly rewarding and enjoyable, to say the least. We thoroughly enjoyed the questions we were given and found ourselves embracing the teamwork and spirit of the competition. “
