The Winter Concert 2019

The Winter Concert took place in front of a packed Rose Theatre this year. The traditional Thirds’ world premiere was entitled ‘Greenpiece’, written for them by LEH Composer-in-Residence, Brendan Ashe - and Greta would have been proud. It was a searing (whilst entertaining) indictment of the planet Earth‘s cavalier attitude to climate change, culminating with the human race judged by a galactic court. We also heard from all six LEH choirs with repertoire ranging from Elgar through ‘Hairspray’ to ‘Annie’. The total commitment and shining eyes of these performances were a delight to behold from the youngest Third up to the most experienced Upper Sixth singer.

Our instrumental ensembles were also on top form with captivating performances from the Saxophone, Percussion, Clarinet, Flute and Brass ensembles. The Senior Strings and Symphony Orchestra produced a luscious sound in their confident performances. It was a marvellous celebration of Winter showcasing the talents of over 300 pupils!
