Sports Round-up 18 October 2024
  • Senior

It has been another busy half term of sport with some fantastic results overall.  We are really pleased with the number of students opting to participate and compete in various sports and we are looking forward to seeing more of their achievements after half term.  We hope everyone has a good half term break.

Netball

On Saturday, we travelled to Wimbledon High School for a netball fixture with our U12/U13 A-E, U14 A-D and U15 A-C teams. It was a great opportunity to get so many of our netballers playing competitively and demonstrating the skills and tactics that they have been practicing in their Games and After School club sessions.  We had a mix of results across the teams with some notable wins as well.  Well done, in particular, to the U15 A-C and the U14A-C who had a 100% win rate against Wimbledon High School with some confident netball played throughout the games. The U12s and U13s also played very well with the U12C and U13C teams securing two very strong wins. Well done to all who played!

On Monday, our U12 team played Radnor House School in the 2nd round of the School Sport Magazine Cup competition. The team played some very competitive and smart netball throughout the game. It was a very close match, with the team winning the second half with some great attack and defence.  It ended as an unfortunate loss for us but well done to the team on their tenacity and great sporting attitude.

Our U14 B team took part in the U14 Borough Tournament held at Christ's School on Tuesday. The teams played in two pools of round robin matches. We started against Christ's School and played an exciting end-to-end game which resulted in a draw. We then went on to play Teddington, RTS, and RPA which resulted in some very convincing wins. We were placed 2nd in our pool which had gone down to goal difference. We then faced Grey Court in the Semi-Finals. We unfortunately lost this match and faced a third and fourth play-off with Christ's School again. This match also ended in a draw so, we finished joint 3rd overall. Congratulations to the team and a great effort by all.

The U15 A-C team travelled to St Paul’s Girls’ School on Tuesday.  After confident wins on Saturday, the three teams had fire in their bellies to perform strongly again. All three teams started well and again demonstrated confidence and strength in both attack and defence. The U15 A team were playing against St Paul’s U16 A team and had a good lead from the start. The U15 B’s and C’s also led from the start and the final results were three more great wins. Well done to all the teams and players on some brilliant netball in the past week!

Swimming

London swim league Round 1

Our Thirds and Lower 4 swimmers competed in the first London Swim league round yesterday alongside Hampton School, competing against Forest School. This was the first gala of the year for a lot of our swimmers. They performed fantastically and showed great team spirit as well as recording some very good times. We now wait for all other school competition results to come in to see if they have qualified from the next round. Well done to all who competed!

Rowing

On Saturday, our Senior rowers raced on the Tideway between Chiswick and Hammersmith at the Pairs Head of the River. This is a nationally attended event with a high standard of racing. We had four crews in the J18 doubles category, and three crews in J18 pairs.

The doubles category was a very tough event with over 40 crews entered, and our crew of Clemmie A and Madeleine C did well to achieve a top 10 finish against some of the best rowers in the country. Our other doubles finished 15th, 21st and 23rd. In the pairs category, Lucy P and Erica M managed to go even better to finish 2nd, with our other pairs all finishing in the top 5.

Well done to the whole squad for a great start to the season.
