Spirit of Christmas with LEH Juniors

The Junior School Carol Service was a truly festive affair on the 5th December. The Choir sang an exciting modern anthem by Carol Ann Duffy and Sasha Manning. New Boy Born is one movement from a nativity composed for Manchester Camerata. The Choir sang this with confidence and gusto, often singing in two parts. The Chorus sang Spread the Word, another contemporary composition by LEH’s Composer in Residence, Mr Ashe. In this anthem the Chorus, consisting of years 3 and 4 girls, sang in 3 parts with enthusiasm and flair. The whole school joined the two choirs to sing Carol of the Bells and Angels’ Carol. Throughout the service the readings were brought to life with a Tableau scene which grew as the visitors to the stable arrived. The service was a celebration of the story of Christmas augmented by spectacular singing by all the girls. I was immensely impressed and very proud of all the girls, the service was the definition of the ‘Spirit of Christmas’.
