During the week of Remembrance Day in November, we were thinking about the key themes of Peace and Understanding. On 11th November, we had a Remembrance Day assembly where we remembered the past and all the people who have served and sacrificed, or been affected by war. We then held a two-minute silence during break time in the playground at 11am, recognising the significance of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 in bringing the 1St World War to an end. The Charity Prefects delivered an excellent presentation in assembly about why we buy poppies at this time of year and how the money raised by the sale of poppies is used by the Royal British Legion to support.

This week was also Anti-Bullying week and this was the focus of PSHE lessons where pupils and their teachers enjoyed the opportunity to talk about respect, diversity and to celebrate differences. As part of national Anti-Bullying Week, pupils were invited to come to school wearing odd socks in support of the Change begins with us campaign. On a similar theme, we launched the Inter Faith Week competition and pupils were encouraged to produce poetry, art work and posters on the theme Peace and Understanding.
