One of our enthusiastic Lower Six pupils, Anabelle tells of her and fellow Sixth Form team mates' excitement on their quest to design, construct and race a single-seater, electric race-car as part of the IET Formula 24 car construction competition. This amazing contest gives over 200 senior schools the opportunity to drive their creations on some of the UK's most esteemed motor circuits.

"The first meeting in the design lab was charged with enthusiasm and anticipation as the six of us, a team of aspiring engineers, unboxed the kit car's main frame, along with all the electrical and mechanical components, which we will assemble in the upcoming months.

This opportunity is a truly extraordinary experience for our team, offering us a chance to develop valuable engineering and collaborative skills. We are so incredibly grateful for the generous funding provided by The Friends of LEH - this support will allow us to make our ambitious car designs a reality!

Beyond building the car, this competition is also a wonderful opportunity for us to learn the importance of teamwork and communication. I'm excited to continue making progress on the build, and I’m especially looking forward to seeing some of us take turns behind the wheel on race day, driving the car that we’ve worked so hard to create!"
