National Spanish Debating Competition 2024

On Tuesday, we went to Tonbridge School to compete in the National Spanish Debating Competition. We had a wonderful time, taking part in three rounds of competitive debates against different schools. The standard was really high and the motions we were debating were very varied, from: ‘El idioma español debe ser globalmente estadarizado’ (The Spanish language should be globally standardised), to ‘La pobreza de los países emergentes es la responsibildad de los países desarrollados’ (The poverty of emerging countries is the responsibility of developing countries). We really enjoyed the experience and it was a brilliant opportunity to extend our vocabulary and speaking skills! We are hoping to be back next year to beat the 2024 winners Eton School.
