National Schools Regatta 2022

On Friday 27th May, the National Schools Regatta began out at Dorney Lake. On the first day the J14 squad raced in two octuples and a quad. All of the boats raced well, but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals. Two J15 fours also raced in a very competitive field, and also narrowly missed out on qualifying.

The next day, it was the turn of the J15 and Senior rowers. The Senior rowers raced in the Championship Eights event and rowed very well in their time trial and qualified for the semi-finals, where they had a extremely close race against Kings School Worcester and made it through to the A-final. In the A-final they put together a fantastic race and came away in 7th place, in what was a particularly competitive field this year.

The J15s had a fantastic regatta. The J15 1st boat had a great result in both their time trial and their semi-final and made it through to the A-final where they had a very close race against Sir William Perkins and missed out on a bronze medal by just 0.5 seconds. The J15 2nd eight progressed straight from their time-trial into the A-final where they had a storming row and came away with a bronze medal!

On the Sunday, it was time for the J16 rowers to take to the water along with some members of the Senior squad. The J16 double had 3 fantastic races and came away with a 5th place in their event. A particularly notable result because they had not had much time to train in their crew and J16 doubles is a competitive event. The championship coxless four also had a good day on the Sunday, and put together their best races of the season to qualify for the A-final and finished a respectable 6th place behind some very quick crews!

Well done to all the rowers who raced.
