Design a re-usable water bottle for children that is fun and practical.  That was the starting point for a design challenge undertaken recently by the LVI Product Design girls.  The brief was set as part of the Schools Starpack Awards.  The competition, established in 1964, challenges students from a wide range of courses to submit solutions to problems set by leading packaging companies.

To begin with the girls visited the junior school to interview their target market.   Having sketched out and developed some initial ideas, next came the hard part, creating a 3D CAD model using Solidworks.  After much lofting, revolving and shelling (technical CAD stuff!) the designs were ready to be 3D printed.  With final designs tweaked and reprinted, the presentation boards and models were packaged up and sent for judging.

When the results came in we had five winners and an overall schools prize.  Sophia (LVID) was highly commended, Anna (LVIC) won Bronze, Eugenie (LVIC) and Michelle (LVID) won Silver, and overall winner of the bottle brief, and Gold Award, with her bear design was Yea-In (LVIE).

Congratulations to the girls for all their hard work which has been deservedly rewarded.
