This October we were joined by a lively group of 35 German students from our partner school, the Ellenrieder Gymnasium in Konstanz, Germany. Our LEH Lower 5 students of German were each carefully paired with a fellow German whom they looked after over the course of the week in their home. Our German friends had the opportunity to practise their English and gain insight into the life of a LEH student. They also had a full programme of events to keep them busy, including river cruises to the Tower of London and the London Eye and a wonderful tour of Brighton Pavilion. Our Lower 5 students of German will travel back to Konstanz to stay with their partners for a week in July 2024 where they will speak German and experience life in Germany. The German exchange, run jointly between LEH, Hampton and the Ellenrieder school in Konstanz, is now in its 39^th year and proves to be a valuable experience for both pupils’ language skills, social skills and cultural awareness. We will be offering the exchange again next academic year to current Upper 4 students who intend to take GCSE German.
