We were off timetable on Wednesday 27th September to take part in a multimedia workshop with Nicole Line, who is the course lead for Art Foundation Fashion and Textiles at UCA. After a few creative warmup exercises that included mark-making with our dominant and non-dominant hand, we learnt multiple textile focused techniques to create patterns to build a visual portfolio. We learnt how to use screen printing, disperse dyes, sublimation paper, heat pressing and heat print crayons. After a full day of letting our creative abilities run wild, we finished off with some fashion design illustrations, then presented our work to each other in a group critique. Although the workshop was exhausting, we all created so much work for our sketchbooks.
