The return leg of the 33rd annual German language exchange between LEH, Hampton School and the Ellenrieder Gymnasium in Konstanz took place this year between 5th and 12th July. Nearly 40 pupils and 4 members of staff started their summer holiday with the return visit to Konstanz where we were greeted by brilliant sunshine. After spending the initial weekend experiencing family life with their exchange partners, the pupils then spent the subsequent week embarking on a range of exciting and diverse day trips. These included a trip to the Rheinfall waterfall just outside Schaffhausen in Switzerland, a full morning of high-ropes and zip-wires with exchange partners at the Erlebniswald in Mainau, a day trip to Stuttgart to see the fantastic Mercedes bez museum and a relaxing morning spent in the swimming pools of the Bodensee Therme thermal baths in Konstanz. We also found time to visit lessons and to receive an official welcome at the Konstanz town hall, complete with a photograph for the local press. We were blessed with fine weather and deepening friendships. Before we knew it, it was time to depart, and while there were many tears of sadness at the final goodbyes, we are all excited at the prospect of the launch of the 34th exchange next year.
Roll on Konstanz 2020!
