On Wednesday night, LEH hosted their first ever Classics Society Dinner with Hampton School. The evening kicked off with a fascinating lecture on ‘Seeing God in Greece and Rome’ by Carrie Vout, a professor in Classics at the University of Cambridge, with her exploring the nuances of how Gods have been presented in art throughout the ancient world. This lecture was very well engaged with by the LEH and Hampton Classicists, and was the perfect start to the evening.

From then, we moved onto mocktails in the Atrium, giving us a chance to raid the Classics Department costume box in preparation for our group photos before going to dinner. We were served a delicious, three-course meal, split up by more incredible talks, this time by Mo (U6), on Medusa, and Charles and Findley from Hampton School who spoke on Cicero and the fall of the Republic.

The night was a truly incredible way to bring together classicists from both LEH and Hampton and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
