Insight into the UK Political System

The Sixth Form History and Politics trip to the Houses of Parliament and Supreme Court was a fantastic day that gave us a deeper insight into our studies, seeing the institutions that are crucial to the UK political system. Visiting the Supreme Court and watching the proceedings of a court case gave us an exciting opportunity to see how the judiciary functions. We then toured the Houses of Parliament, exploring the history of Westminster and gaining an understanding of how it has evolved over time. Sitting in on a debate in the House of Commons really brought our history and politics course to life as we saw representatives discuss real life issues. My personal highlight was meeting The Right Honourable Karen Bradley MP, and probing her on political issues that we were all interested in. The trip was incredibly insightful and deepened our understanding of both the history and the current workings of the UK political system.
