FI Safe Walking
  • Junior

The first week of June was Child Safety Week and pupils in Form I took part in Safe Walking Week and were given some practical training in crossing roads. The training took place on local roads around the school and was carried out by a team of trained instructors from the Safety Education Team, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We hope that this experience has given the girls an insight into future independent travelling, as well as promoting the benefits of walking as a sustainable means of transport.

On 3rd June, Form I went safe walking. We started learning about a pelican crossing then we learnt about the first stop and the second stop and how to cross the road safely. Then we learnt about T junctions and cross roads and island crossing. We all managed to cross it. Finally, we were tested to see what we remembered and everyone passed!

In June, Form I had safe walking on the Uxbridge Road and further in Hampton. FI learnt how to cross roads carefully and learnt the 4 words; stop, think, look, listen. We also learnt how to cross different crossings such as an island crossing.
