LEH was one of 11 schools taking part in the annual Epsom College MUN Conference on Saturday 2nd March. 20 enthusiastic delegates representing the delegations of France, Germany, India and the UAE debated resolutions on topics like the question of freedom of expression and limiting hate speech in the media, migration and asylum seeker management, AI regulation, enhancing access to education in conflict and post-conflict zones, antibiotic resistance and the question of military expansion in outer space.
I am delighted to announce that the following pupils also won awards:
Commended Awards:
Maya represented France in the SPECPOL Committee
Michelle represented Germany in the Security Council
Highly Commendable Awards:
Mariya represented France in the Human Rights Committee
Kiara represented India in the DISEC Committee
Best Delegate Award:
Lowri represented Germany in the Health Committee.
A huge congratulations to all involved.

On the 2nd March LEH delegates attended EPMUN. We were nervous yet excited and very happy to be greeted with an excellent breakfast selection. After a short opening ceremony we headed straight to our Committee rooms. Throughout the morning we enjoyed the fruitful debate, discussing relevant and interesting topics which included Non self-governing territories and the use of military expansion in outer space. Many LEH delegates had their resolutions and amendments successfully approved after meticulous debate, which was both a rewarding and enjoyable process. A highlight from the SPECPOL committee had to be when chaos ensued as the DPRK declared nuclear war on the USA!
After lunch, we split into our Delegations for the General Assembly. The Crisis Topic of a US military group overthrowing the Mozambican Government provoked some passionate speeches from LEH’s delegations, and forced us to quickly form alliances with other countries in order to create a resolution as swiftly as we could. Overall, we had a fantastic time and hope to attend the next conference!
