On 6th March, we marked International Women’s Day with a number of events. The form art project produced some fantastic responses to the #EachforEqual theme, while everyone enjoyed the opportunity to write pledges and empowering slogans on the windows of the Atrium! Ms White and the UIV created a beautiful Suffragette-inspired banner in the Gateway, reflecting their History work this term on the campaign for Votes for Women 100 years ago. At lunchtime we were delighted to welcome back Rachel Harper, author of our Write the Girl school play Wellington 24: she ran a play-writing workshop with Thirds and LIV. The Assembly Hall was packed with pupils who heard from our Speaker Panel of five Everyday Heroes, all with a link to LEH. Parents Tazeen Ahmad, Alison Ress and Sarah Trenfield joined friends and relatives of staff Emma Crozier and Rebecca Frayn, all of whom inspired the audience with their personal stories and insights. Some great questions prompted good discussion of the future of feminism: judging by the passionate engagement of the school in today’s event, it is in good hands!
