Art you love and loathe

At the start of the Easter break, the Art History Department received some very exciting news from Art History Abroad, who run cultural travel courses in Italy and beyond for students and adults. AHA host an annual competition called the Sir Trenchard Cox Scholarship. All LEH L6 Art History students entered this competition, for which entrants have to produce 400 words on a work of art they “love” and 400 words on a work they “loathe”.

We were so delighted to hear that L6 Daisy secured First Place, winning a huge scholarship of AHA’s fee for any 2-week Summer Course (£4,995 in 2024). This covers accommodation in Italy, all museum entry fees, travel and tuition during the course.

Daisy wrote with flair and feeling about the work of art she loves (Big Mother by street artist Stik) and with ferocity and precision about the work of art she loathes (Mother and Child Divided by Damien Hirst). In addition to Daisy’s success, L6 Ella was awarded Third Place for her powerful and memorable texts on works by Barbara Kruger and Picasso, for which she has been awarded a £400 bursary that can be invested in her choice of AHA course.
