Excitement is mounting in school as Senior Lead Rowing Coach and LEH alumna Abby Johnston, Class of 2007, closes in on the finish line of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Rowing alongside fellow alumna Charlotte Irving, Class of 2008, and teammate Kat Cordiner, team ExtraOARdinary are due to complete the epic 3,000 mile crossing on Sunday 23rd January.

In recent days they have kept up a blistering pace and now have less than 150 nautical miles to go to reach the finish line in Antigua. They are desperate to set a new record for the fastest row across the Atlantic by a three-women crew. But they face stiff competition from Dutch rivals Row for Impact who are almost keeping up neck and neck.

Pupils and staff have been following their progress on the information TV screens around the school. It will be a nail-biting fight until the end, and we are all cheering them on, every stroke of the way.  You can keep up with their progress on the Talisker Whisky Challenge website here, Atlantic Campaigns Facebook page will show the live stream of them arriving here, or by following them on Instagram: @weareextraoardinary or facebook here. To show your support, please donate to their chosen Cancer charities here.
