Tree Planting Event
A tree planting ceremony took place on the 1st December, as part of the school's programme of initiatives to become "greener". This was a result of an earlier review by Holles House, as part of the Eco-Scools prgramme. It was felt that although we have a number of features to increase wildlife such as bird feeders and a good variety of trees, shrubs and flowers, the ratio of trees to grassy areas could be improved.
Each house planted two trees from a choice of apple, pear, cherry and birch; all were chosen as trees which will attract insects and a variety of bird species. Hot chocolate and toppings was free to those helping with the planting and this was very much appreciated after being out in the cold! The group were also selling hot chocolate to other members of the school including the lacrosse squad who were out on the field! This raised £30 which will be sent to the RSPB to support their conservation work.
