The Thirds' Team Building Day

On Thursday 22nd September, all the new Thirds went to Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre for a team building day. The trip was kindly organised by Miss Jeffery and Miss Waters so that all the new Thirds could get to know each other and work together in a fun way.

We started the day on the coach. All of the thirds were very eager about this day. As soon as we arrived, we were ready to get going and do some activities. The groups were numbered 1-11 and these were the teams we would work in. There were various types of activities. Some included getting wet and some included getting dirty! The main activity was raft building. The teams got twelve ropes, six logs and four air barrels. We got building straight away. After tying knots, lifting logs and rolling barrels, everybody finished and we carried the rafts to the water. It was a race between our groups. Not only did we have to paddle out and back, but it was the first group to put all their equipment away as well. There was a lot of splashing and falling in, but eventually every team got out and back.

After that we had lunch and were enthusiastic about the challenges ahead. One task was to get through a spiders web without touching it. Another task was to be blindfolded and do an obstacle course in black-out goggles. We held on to a rope that led us through tunnels, down slides, and along bridges. It seemed long at first, but when we took our goggles off it was a lot shorter - we had been going in circles!

It was a very exciting day and we would like to thank all the members of staff who came on the trip.
