Service Volunteers Tea Party
On Wednesday 28th September, the annual Service Volunteers' Tea Party took place. In the afternoon, members of the Upper Sixth decorated the staff refectory, arranging flowers on the tables and groups of balloons on the walls to create a festive atmosphere. The guests, invited from local homes for the elderly, arrived whilst the sun was shining, and were soon presented with the tricky quiz prepared by the Upper Sixth. Volunteers from the Thirds then arrived to talk to the guests and shortly afterwards a varied line-up of entertainment began, with musicians performing songs by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele and classical ensembles; the guests greatly enjoyed this part of the afternoon.
Afternoon Tea followed, consisting of a delicious spread of scones and cream, cakes and tea. With the quiz having been marked, prizes were awarded to those in the top places. After more chatting, it was time to say goodbye to everyone. It was another successful Tea Party for the Service Volunteers and we would like to thank everyone else who was involved in organising and helping on the day.
