LEH pupil joins National Youth Choir
Following an audition in December, Anna Marshall, in the Upper Fifth has been offered a Soprano 1 place with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. With a record number of 600 applicants, Anna's achievement is all the more outstanding. Formed in 1983, this prestigious choir is known throughout the world and is recognised in Britain as the most senior of the regular choirs for young people aged 16 – 22, providing members with experience of the highest levels of professional rehearsal and performance.
Anna is an active member of the musical community at LEH and last term achieved a Grade 7 with Distinction (Associated Board Music Examinations) in both singing and playing the alto saxophone. At school, she sings with the Cantata group and the Holles Singers.
Miranda Ashe, Director of Music at LEH, commented, “Anna is an exemplary chorister. Her tuning is immaculate and her vocal technique is excellent. She bubbles over with enthusiasm and is the quintessence of sparkle in our choirs!”
As part of the National Youth Choir, Anna will attend a residential course to be held in Sevenoaks School in Kent during August.
