Public Benefit at National Level

Public benefit at national level is outlined below:

  • Children in the independent sector are not educated at the taxpayers' expense. The current saving for the Treasury is over £5,450,000 per year (London Borough average cost per pupil 2009-10: £6,283 per year).
  • Membership of the Hampton School Combined Cadet Force has provided a solid grounding for future recruits to the Services, in addition to playing a role within the community.
  • Independent schools such as LEH are responsible for a significant proportion of language teaching at A-level and for a very high percentage of language degree students. This is also true to a considerable degree in mathematics and sciences.
  • Sportswomen frequently represent their country in their chosen sports: currently over 30 girls in the school have done so.
  • Musicians are represented in national groups, which, in 2010-11, included the National Youth Choir and the National Children's Orchestra.
