Education & Facilities at LEH

The school educated 864 pupils during 2008-9: 679 in the Senior Department (11-18) and 185 in the Junior Department (7-11), the majority coming from West London, Surrey, Middlesex and Berkshire. The school provides an academic, day school education for girls aged 7-18: this is an environment not generally available in the state sector.

Scholarships

Entry to LEH is open to all girls, though it is selective based on academic merit. Entry is ordinarily at Years 3, 7 and 12. Scholarships and exhibitions are awarded for academic and musical merit on the basis of written examination, interview and/or audition for both Year 7 and Year 12 entry. Sports Scholarships are offered internally at 16+.

Bursaries

The school operates a means tested bursary scheme remitting up to 100% of fees, and are available at all years of entry. Bursaries are advertised and publicised widely, including a joint promotional programme with other independent school in London: www.feeassistancelondonschools.org.uk

Information regarding bursaries is available on the school's website: www.lehs.org.uk/Financial_Information_32/index.php

Financial Provision

Over 2008/09, some 162 pupils (18.75% of total number of girls at LEH) received financial disbursements, at a cost of £559,065 (4.99% of gross fee income). Of these, 35 receive financial support through bursaries, of which 12 were full bursaries. The Governors have a policy of increasing bursarial support year-on-year, to 8% of gross fee income. For 2009/10, bursarial support has been increased to £615,323.
