Welcome to LEH Junior School, a friendly, busy, and happy school, and a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.

Our pupils’ love of learning is infectious and, supported by our experienced team of teachers and teaching assistants, they are encouraged to work hard, try their best and embrace all the exciting opportunities on offer – and there is plenty to enjoy! LEH Junior School offers a rich and diverse curriculum and an inspiring enrichment programme, with exciting opportunities designed to challenge and engage all our pupils.

We know that happiness is the key to success, and LEH Junior School provides a safe and nurturing environment where there is always someone to talk to and where the staff know and understand the needs of every child. In all aspects of school life, pupils learn how to make good choices, to show respect and compassion, and understand why a little kindness goes a long way.

On their journey through the Junior School and onwards to LEH Senior School, pupils grow up to be courageous and resilient learners who understand why making mistakes, getting things wrong, and tackling difficult and challenging activities are all important steps in the learning process. Rather than shying away from a challenge or a new experience, pupils prefer to throw themselves wholeheartedly into all aspects of school life whether in the classroom, on stage, in musical performance, sports or in charity events and competitions. Sometimes the biggest challenge is deciding what to try next!

“Junior school pupils are encouraged to face challenges, to strive to improve and to work things out for themselves.”

ISI inspection March 2022

We are fortunate to have excellent facilities, including spacious, well-resourced classrooms, a much-loved library, reading room, Science lab, Art and Design Technology studio and computing suite.

When they are not busy in their classrooms, pupils enjoy making the most of our wonderful grounds, enjoying the freedom to play and learn outdoors. We also share some of the impressive facilities at the Senior School, including an activities studio, sports hall, netball courts, sports field, swimming pool and theatre, which are all conveniently just a short hop, skip and a jump over the bridge!

As Head of the Junior School, I consider it a real privilege to be part of such a remarkable school, working with a fantastic team of staff, supportive parents and happy children who, quite simply, love their school.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Paula Mortimer
Head of LEH Junior School

Paula Mortimer was educated at St Peter’s School, Orrell, Lancashire and Westminster College, Oxford where she completed a Bachelor of Education Degree (BEd Science). Mrs Mortimer taught at St Augustine’s Priory for 14 years before moving to Channing Junior School in Highgate as Deputy Head, Acting Head and SENCo. Mrs Mortimer went on to be Head of St Christina’s School in St John’s Wood before joining LEH in 2016. She is an ISI team inspector and member of IAPS.

Mrs Mortimer is married with two daughters and one unruly sprollie. She loves to escape to the Devon coast – whatever the weather and an annual visit to a music festival is a must – campervan and wellies are compulsory.

When she’s not at school, or out in the rain, she loves reading thrillers – the scarier the better.

Why LEH Junior School?

First Impressions of LEH School

Our L6 Creative Directors interviewed new joiners in Form 1, Thirds, Sixth Form and our new Head Mistress, Mrs Cole, to learn about their first impressions of LEH School during their first few weeks.

Eco Schools Green Flag Award

LEH Junior School was awarded Eco Schools Green Flag status in May 2022.  The Eco Schools assessor said, ‘Congratulations to everyone Lady Eleanor Holles Junior School for the great work you have managed to do, especially throughout the pandemic and lockdown. You should all be very proud of the amazing work you have done and the great application you have submitted. Well done!’

We were delighted to receive confirmation of our second Green Flag Award in June 2023 after developing and implementing a five-part action plan with assistance from our Eco-Squad.

Thank you to the LEH Junior School Eco Squad for all of their great work continuing to make the school a greener place. We are proud of the changes our pupils have led and the difference they are making, but there is still so much work to accomplish, and we look forward to more green initiatives in the coming years with future LEH Junior pupils.
