Curriculum

Sixth Form Courses

We have always believed in breadth of study in the sixth form and students have long had the opportunity to take four A levels or three plus an AS subject as well as General Studies and a range of options including PE Word Processing and Photography. The current system provides Careers education and PSHE for all and there are FLIC and GCSE courses in some subject areas.

The sixth form timetable is based on five blocks, each of eight periods. In four of these, students may select subjects (one from each block), which reach AS standard in one year. The fifth block contains subjects, which can be studied to AS level in two years. Students will take four or five courses in Year 12 and pursue three or four of these to Advanced level in Year 13. All students study General Studies, to Advanced level, and non-examined Key Skills are incorporated into schemes of work.
