School Trips
 |
| In Delphi, on a Classics trip to Greece |
The school is keen to extend the education we offer beyond the classroom, and there are numerous school trips during the course of the academic year, including some that are residential.
For example, two ski trips are organised annually; Year 8 have the opportunity to spend a week in either France or Germany during the summer term and there is a regular exchange with a school in Konstanz for those studying German at GCSE level. Girls may spend a week with French families in the Loire Valley and visits to Spain are organised for A level students; there have been geography visits to Iceland and classical trips to Italy and Greece. History of Art trips have been organised to, for example, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Sixth Form girls may be able to participate in work experience in France and Germany.
There are regular theatre and concert trips to London venues and the school makes good use of London museums and galleries to augment teaching.
Clubs and Societies
 |
| Fencing is an additional sport available to the girls. |
We offer a wide range of clubs and societies. Most take place during the long lunch break and, while they may vary from year to year, may include activities as varied as Scrabble, science, chess, debating, German, geography, classics, a variety of sports, Christian Union and Amnesty International.
Other Activities
 |
| CCF is a joint activity with Hampton School |
There is a flourishing Service Volunteers group which, with Hampton School, organises events for the elderly and for disabled young people; the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels; Young Enterprise groups operate in the sixth form and girls belong to the Air Force and Army branches of the Hampton CCF. Each year the School supports a different charity chosen by pupils. Forms and other groups organise fund-raising activities which raise in the region of £15,000 annually for the school’s chosen charity and other organisations.
Hampton School
The school is situated next door to Hampton School, an independent school for boys. This allows us to offer a range of popular mixed extra-curricular activities at appropriate stages in the school, such as joint productions, Service Volunteers, CCF, the German Exchange and Leadership training. In the Sixth Form, the girls and boys are welcome in one another’s Common Rooms at break and lunch times. The coach service also operates jointly.
