The Lower IIs went up to the BBC 21 Century classroom to learn how to create stop motion animation.
'We were given two poems – Lower IID were given “The Owl and The Pussy Cat” by Edward Lear and Lower IIJ were given “The Three Little Pigs” by Roald Dahl. First we were shown some stop motion animations. Then we were shown how the pictures were taken using a digi blue camera. Different stages of the animation process were explained took us and the poem read out.
We were given a section of the poem and had to go away and create a story board of our part of the poem. Once our story board was completed we then started to create the figures, scenery, speech bubbles and back drop we would need. This process took us all morning.
After lunch we began filming every tiny movement required a few second of film and if we used speech bubbles we needed to take more photos. We had to be careful the person on the camera did not take a picture while someone had their hand in view and we had to try not to move other parts of scenery when we moved our characters. Taking a close up was a separate bit of film.
When we had all our film we then put it together with some music and sound and added our credits. Mrs Allden has put all our clips together to create the final film for the school to watch in assembly.'
