The Junior Department Spring Concert demonstrated a great variety of musical talent. The orchestra began with a rousing rendition of J.Strauss’ “Radetsky March”. This was swiftly followed by the Upper and Lower II pupils singing two moving songs written by Richard Stilgoe for the charity “Water Aid”.
All year groups enjoyed singing their action songs, especially Upper I pupils with the “Body Song” and Form I pupils tossing their imaginary pancakes!
The Lower IIs delighted the audience with a special performance on the Handbells and Chorus managed not to eat the bananas in “I Wan’na be like You” from The Jungle Book.
The highlight before the interval was the Choir singing “Rhythm of Life”, quite a feat of vocal dexterity by the girls and finger work on the piano by Mrs. Sutherland!
After the interval the whole Junior Department joined in a semi-staged concert performance of The Burning Bush by Jim Parker, which told of Moses and the exodus from Egypt.
A delightful afternoon of music was enjoyed by all.
