| At work in the Art Block |
The curriculum is designed to offer bright girls a secure foundation for their further studies, and the opportunity to extend their particular abilities, talents and interests. Teachers are highly qualified and exceptionally dedicated, and the school provides its pupils with a challenging and exciting learning environment. To support their personal development, girls throughout the school have a weekly PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) period.
Years 7 - 9
 |
| Year 7 German |
In the first three years of Senior School (Years 7 – 9), we deliver a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which includes two modern languages (French and German) from Year 7, designated ICT lessons, Design and Technology (embracing Food, Textiles and Resistant Materials). Pupils study English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Art, Music, and PE. In Years 7 and 8 an integrated Science course is taught, evolving into the separate sciences in year 9. In Year 7 all girls follow a Library course, and in Years 8 and 9 all study Latin. Drama is taught throughout Year 7, and as an eight week block in Years 8 and 9. Girls will study for the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) and British Computer Society ICT User Level 2 qualifications (equivalent to a GCSE).
GCSE
 |
| GCSE Geography |
From the broad base of studies in Years 7, 8 and 9, selection, rather than specialisation, for the GCSE years (10 and 11) gives pupils ample scope to respond to their individual bias and inclination. Most girls study ten subjects at this level, including English, English Literature, Mathematics, at least one Science and at least one Modern Language. Spanish, Ancient Greek and Drama are all available at GCSE.
The Sixth Form
 |
| Sixth Form Chemistry |
We have always believed in breadth of study in the Sixth Form, and students have long had the opportunity to study four A levels, or three plus an AS subject, together with General Studies to AS level. The girls have the option of entering for the AQA Baccalaureate, which embrace thier A levels, General Studies AS, an Extended Project and extra-curricular activities.
Girls will also have the opportunity of studying for the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) Advanced Award. Girls who complete all four advanced modules (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database and Presentation) will be awarded ECDL Expert Certification.
Girls have the benefit of Careers Guidance; non-examined Key Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT are incorporated in schemes of work. We offer a particularly wide range of A level subjects, including a number that are new at this level.
