About the Senior Department
The special characteristics of the Senior Department include not only the high academic standards for which it is nationally renowned, but a well-balanced, purposeful and productive ethos. Girls enjoy their studies, but also relish the range of opportunities the school provides in sport, the creative arts and many extra curricular activities. They also value the sense of community at the school and are exceptionally well supported by academic and pastoral staff. Above all, their happiness and well-being, the development of their self-esteem as well as their many talents, and their appreciation of the positive role they can play in the community are priorities at the school. Girls enter the Senior Department from a wide range of independent and maintained schools, as well as our own Junior Department.

Contact with Parents
Parents play a very welcome part in the life of the Senior Department, and are extremely supportive of school events such as plays, concerts and matches. There is a termly newsletter, weekly parents' email and a regularly updated websote, all of which give information about events, activities and achievements.

The Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to offer bright girls a secure foundation for their further studies, and the opportunity to extend their particular abilities, talents and interests. Teachers are highly qualified and exceptionally dedicated, and the school provides its pupils with a challenging and exciting learning environment. To support their personal development, girls throughout the school have a weekly PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) period.

AQA Baccalaureate
We are delighted to be able to offer all those entering the Sixth Form from September 2009, the opportunity to gain a Baccalaureate qualification which will embrace fully their Sixth Form experience. We believe that the AQA Baccalaureate (known as the AQA Bacc) offers the very best of the many examination options now available post GCSE.
