Music
We are justifiably proud of our music department which sustains the highest standards in performance and as an academic study. There are junior, senior and chamber choirs, String and Symphony orchestras and numerous groups which include wind band, jazz band, saxophone group, viola group, brass group, rock bands and many chamber ensembles. The Holles Singers won the title of BBC Youth Choir of the Year in 2010.
There are regular evening concerts and also opportunities for girls to perform at informal lunchtime concerts and in Assembly. We hold an annual Music Competition. An annual choral and orchestral concert with the boys from Hampton School, and parents and staff from both schools, gives players and singers an opportunity to participate in works such as Brahm's Requiem, Puccini's Gloria, Karl Jenkins The Armed Man Mass and Howard Goodall's Eternal Light.
Individual music lessons are currently in the following instruments: piano, flute, percussion, trumpet, violin, oboe, horn, harpsichord, viola, clarinet classical guitar, trombone, cello, bassoon, tuba, double bass, harp, electrical guitar and saxophone, as well as music technology.
