Public Exams Advice for Parents and Candidates (Summer 2010)

Contact with Parents

Parents play a very welcome part in the life of the Senior Department, and are extremely supportive of school events such as plays, concerts and matches. There is a twice termly newsletter, an annual magazine and a recently redesigned web-site, all of which give information about events, activities and achievements.

There are regular written reports and Parents' Evenings  and, in addition, parents are invited to the school as their daughter start Years 7, 8, 10 and 12 to meet key pastoral staff and learn about issues relevant to their daughters' education and personal development. A number of other special meetings are organised at key stages, including Year 9, when GCSE choices are made, in Year 11, to discuss A level arrangements, and in year 12 to discuss the university application system. There are also additional Tutor Evenings for parents of girls in Years 9 and 12, at which parents may make appointments to see Tutors in order to discuss general progress.

Parents are encouraged to contact the school if they have any concerns. Although it is of course possible to contact her at other times, each Head of School has a designated weekly telephone time when she is available to talk with parents of girls in the layer. Appointments to see the Head Mistress, the Deputy Headmistress and Heads of School can be made via the Head Mistress's PA.

Parents are warmly invited to join the FLEHS (Friends of Lady Eleanor Holles School), which organises entertaining social events such as an annual Christmas Fair, Quiz Nights and themed evenings. A recent Fashion Show was a great success, and through the FLEHS parents are able to use some of the school's sports facilities.
