The Creative Arts

Music plays an important role at Burlington House. As well as class lessons in music, singing and dance, we have a thriving orchestra, choir and recorder group, and the opportunity for lessons in a wide variety of instruments. These are given by visiting staff in the Senior Department, or in one of the Junior Department practise rooms. There is an annual Spring Concert, in which every girl participates, a musical production each Summer, and a Christmas Carol Service in our local church.

In Art and in Design Technology freedom of expression, learning to use a variety of media, and design and construction skills are all fostered. The girls' work is on display for all to enjoy.

Drama is taught as a class lesson from the first year. While much of our work is imaginative and creative, the girls are encouraged from the start to develop good oral communication skills, and to present their ideas with confidence. Individual and group Speech and Drama lessons are available, at extra cost.
