Summer Lacrosse and Netball Tour to the USA
In July, 36 LEH girls and 4 teachers travelled to the USA and Barbados on a lacrosse and netball tour. Sixth Formers, Charlotte Lawson and Fizzy Keeble give an account of the trip.
'In America we played 3 lacrosse matches against some of the top club teams. It was difficult to play against girls who we had been billeted with and who had been so friendly and hospitable. It was also very hot. Unfortunately, we lost narrowly, however, we learnt so much from the physical, accurate and tough Americans. During our stay, we managed to fit in plenty of shopping, particularly in our new-found favourite shop ‘Forever 21'. The week in America went by very quickly so we hoped the time in Barbados would be more relaaaaaaaxed.
As soon as we arrived, it hit us: if it was hot in America, it was hotter in Barbados. We were soon transferred to our beautiful hotel on the beach where we cooled off in the sea. The netball was a great success for all 4 teams. Despite the size and height of the Bajan girls, we managed to win many of our matches. Our favourite day was the cruise trip when we sunbathed, swam with turtles and played cricket on the beach. We were also lucky enough to go on some other trips around the island, enjoy some great restaurants and, of course, tired out by all this exertion, to relax by the sea.
We could not have asked for, or imagined, a better tour. There may be moments, no doubt, when we wish we were still there! The tour was not just fun, but gave the girls a chance to get to know each other and build a lot of team spirit.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible and who made it go so well, especially Miss Tilbury, Miss Paulin, Miss Walters and Mr. Budd. '
