Athletics News

Our athletics teams have recently competed in the Richmond Borough Championships and the English Schools' Athletics Association (Middlesex) competition.

Richmond Borough Championships

On June 21st the U12, U13, U14 and U15 athletic squads participated in the Richmond Borough Championships. We had a very successful day with Sumrah Naqvi (Thirds)) breaking a record set in the discus by 53 centimeters achieving18.10m. Josie Savill (UIV) also broke a record in the 1500m her time being a very impressive 5.00min. Our U12 squad showed how much practice and hard work pays off finishing first in their age group; our U13, U14 and U15 teams all finished in second place overall in their age groups. This meant our efforts as a squad placed us second with 332 points, 8 points behind Orleans Park who won the event.

ESSA

On May 18th our Junior and Intermediate girls attended the English Schools' Athletics Association competition (Middlesex Round). In this competition the girls compete as a team and try and gain as many points as possible depending on times and distances. Our Junior team gained 280 points finishing in second place and our intermediate team gained 296 points, also finishing in second place. Both teams qualified for the South East Regional Final Round.

In the South East Regional Final Round the girls had to achieve first place to ensure a National Finals spot. The team had trained hard leading up to this event and the Juniors especially improved in their scores gaining 315 and the Intermediate team gained 294. This put both teams in fourth place overall. This was a great effort by all our athletes competing in a very high class competition.
