The Lady Eleanor Holles School is one of the country's leading independent girls' schools, educating 865 girls aged 7 – 18 and occupying a thirty acre site in Hampton, Middlesex.
The School will shortly be celebrating its 300th Anniversary and is embarking on the next stage of its development which includes major new facilities and widening access through bursaries. We are therefore taking the opportunity to strengthen the Governing Body by recruiting individuals who are committed to and enthusiastic about the education of girls, and who have a range of professional skills and experience with a track record of achievement in their own career
The School is a charitable company limited by guarantee therefore, as a Governor of the school, the individual is also a charity trustee and a company director.
The Board of Governors is responsible for the overall governance, financial stability and strategic direction of The Lady Eleanor Holles School, developing the school's aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
You would be expected to be able to make a commitment to attend four meetings of the Governing Body and a further four committee meetings each year plus a formal training day. In addition you would be invited to attend major school events and to visit the School during the working day at least once a year. You will require strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind. The role is voluntary and carries no remuneration.
