Construction News - December '11
Welcome to Construction News, the fourth issue of a series of regular updates on the progress on the new Arts Centre, written by Martin Walburn, LEH's Estates Manager.
Construction works continued up until the Christmas break, making the most of the vacation to undertake various noisy activities. All of the reinforced concrete framed structures were completed. The steel roof trusses which form the roof structure of the theatre have been lifted into place for final connection.

The permeable paving substrate to the perimeter of the new building has been completed, this will allow a working scaffold to be erected to enable the blockwork and curtain walling to be installed in due course.

Work has progressed well internally with blockwork walls being laid to the Music and Art Departments, enabling a visualisation of the spaces and rooms being built.
The site was closed over the Christmas and New Year holidays, enabling all the site operatives a well-deserved break. I look forward to providing our next progress report in the New Year.
