How Scholarships, Exhibitions and Bursaries are awarded

Scholarships and Exhibitions are awarded as a result of a girl's performance in the entrance process. Further details are available from the Registrar and on the website.

Assisted Place Bursaries are based on a declaration of income and assets and are subject to annual financial assessment. Parents should apply for an Assisted Place Bursary when they confirm that their daughter is to sit the entrance examination. Where demand exceeds funds available awards will be made on the basis of the applicant's performance in the entrance examination. As a very rough guide parents / guardians whose combined income is less than £20,000 could be offered a 100% discount on the tuition fees whilst those with a combined income of £50,000 are unlikely to qualify for assistance. Further details are available from the Bursar or on the website.

School Bursaries are based on a declaration of income and assets and are subject to financial assessment. Further details are available from the Bursar or on the website.

How much financial help can parents expect?

Academic and Music Scholarships are worth 10% of the tuition fee. In addition Music Scholars will receive free tuition for one instrument from a teacher employed by the School. Scholarship awards are not subject to financial assessment.

Music Exhibitions are worth 7½% of the tuition fee and are not subject to financial assessment.

Bursaries: Bursary awards of up to 100% discount on the tuition fees are available but are subject to repeat testing of parental means each year and may be varied upwards or downwards, depending on parental circumstances. In addition consideration will be given to those awarded a 100% bursary receiving a fee remission on extras such as transport to and from school, uniform and sports equipment, field trips which are part of the curriculum and public examination entry fees.

Joint Award of a Scholarship and Assisted Place Bursary: Parents may be in receipt of a Scholarship / Exhibition and an Assisted Place Bursary, however, if a joint award is made, the total value of the support provided will not exceed the value of the Assisted Place Bursary had a Scholarship (or Exhibition) not been awarded.
